Alberta Museums Association (AMA)

The Alberta Museums Association (AMA) was founded in 1971 as a non-profit society through which museum workers could meet for the benefit of Alberta's developing museum community. Today, the AMA counts more than 200 institutional and 250 individual Members among its membership of Alberta museums and museum professionals.

The Alberta Museums Association (AMA) 2020 Conference will examine the initiatives, strategies, and practices museums and cultural institutions undertake to build for the future. As museums and their communities face changing economic, political, social, and environmental circumstances, building sustainable organizations is key to the immediate and continuing vitality of the museum sector.

The AMA is accredited under Imagine Canada's Standards Program, a Canada-wide set of shared standards for charities and non-profits designed to help organizations strengthen their operations in five fundamental areas: board governance; financial accountability and transparency; fundraising; staff management; and volunteer involvement.
