How Bad are Bananas: A Book

Authored by Mike Berners-Lee, a professor of sustainability at Lancaster University, 'How bad are bananas,' sets out to explain carbon footprint across varying lifestyle choices ranging from aviation, heating, swimming pools to packaged bananas.

First published in 2009, This new edition updates all the figures (from data centres to hosting a World Cup) and introduces many areas that have become a regular part of modern life - Twitter, the Cloud, Bitcoin, electric bikes and cars, even space tourism. Berners-Lee's findings give the figures needed to manage and reduce carbon footprint, as well as lobby companies, businesses and government.

Berners-Lee makes regular speaking, TV and radio appearances to promote awareness of sustainability and climate change issues. He is also the author of The Burning Question and There Is No Planet B.
